Ludmiła Popiel & Jerzy Fedorowicz - book
The artists Ludmiła Popiel (1929–88) and Jerzy Fedorowicz (1928–2018) were representatives of the post-war avant-garde and Conceptual movement in art, famed as cofounders of the legendary meetings of artists and theoreticians in Osieki. Partners both in private and artistic life, they were among the key figures of the Polish art scene in the 1960s and 1970s, and participated in meetings, symposia and events that became seminal in shaping Polish avant-garde art.
The book Ludmiła Popiel and Jerzy Fedorowicz is the first monograph devoted to the two artists. Edited by Dr Marika Kuźmicz and Łukasz Mojsak, the publication features essays by Prof. Amy Bryzgel, Daniel Muzyczuk and Prof. Luiza Nader, as well as the editors. The book contains reproductions of all preserved works by Popiel and Fedorowicz (from private collections, Museum in Koszalin, National Museums in Warsaw, Krakow and Szczecin, Museum of Chełm Region in Chełm, Museum of Architecture in Wrocław, Museum of Central Pomerania in Słupsk, among other institutions). Further sections of the publication include a timeline of the artists’ work drawn up by Agnieszka Popiel and a selection of their texts.
